On September 9, Wang Xiaohan, Executive Deputy Director-General of the United Front Work Department of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Director of the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, headed a delegation of Shanghai entrepreneurs to pay a visit to the Chamber. He held discussions and exchanges with Lin Long’an, President of the Chamber, Cai Yi, Honorary President, Ying Wei and Zhao Huazhong, Executive Presidents. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on deepening Shanghai-Hong Kong economic and trade exchanges and expanding room for corporate cooperation.

During the forum, Lin Long’an introduced the Chamber’s work in supporting Greater Bay Area enterprises to build global brands by drawing on import and export industrial resources of the “9+2” cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He stated that the Chamber will keep leveraging Hong Kong’s role as a window connecting the world, proactively build communication platforms, and create more opportunities for enterprises from Shanghai and Hong Kong to carry out trade and investment cooperation and jointly explore the global market. Participants at the event shared insights on cooperation prospects covering cross-border e-commerce, digital trade and supply chain collaboration based on their respective industries.

Wang Xiaohan commended the Chamber for its long-standing efforts in boosting economic and trade exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and supporting the development of Greater Bay Area enterprises. He noted that both Shanghai and Hong Kong are key national economic hubs with broad cooperation potential and complementary strengths in finance, trade, shipping and other sectors. This visit with the entrepreneur delegation aims to further strengthen bilateral exchanges and interactions, drive down-to-earth cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong enterprises in wider areas and at deeper levels, and achieve shared growth.

The two sides also discussed concrete cooperation arrangements including establishing a regular exchange mechanism, organizing mutual corporate inspection tours and co-hosting economic and trade events. Both parties agreed to maintain close contact and translate the consensus reached at the forum into tangible cooperation results as soon as possible.
