On 17 July, Sun Bin, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, and his delegation visited the GREATER BAY AREA IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS ASSOCIATION for research and discussion. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on core topics including the high-quality foreign trade development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, cross-city collaborative services of chambers of commerce, and the cultivation of new forms of cross-border e-commerce.

President Lin Long’an delivered a report on the development, operation and business progress of the Association. He stated that as the first import and export chamber platform in the Greater Bay Area to realize the integration of industrial resources, the Association closely follows the Greater Bay Area integrated development strategy, breaks regional barriers to services, coordinates and links industrial resources across the “9+2” cities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and promotes complementary advantages and coordinated development among market entities in various regions. Leveraging Hong Kong’s geographical strength as a “super-connector” linking the world, the Association carries out regular economic and trade promotion activities focusing on cross-border e-commerce, trade finance and professional commercial services. It organizes enterprises to participate in overseas exhibitions, builds international channels for matching supply and demand, improves the supporting service system for cross-border e-commerce, and facilitates continuous exchange of regional industrial resources. The Association will further deepen industrial collaboration between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to support the high-quality development of Guangdong’s foreign trade sector.

Deputy Director Sun Bin acknowledged the Association’s efforts in integrating Greater Bay Area commercial resources, boosting coordinated regional trade development, and exploring and developing cross-border e-commerce. He pointed out that advancing the building of a powerful trading nation constitutes a major national strategic initiative. As a major province in foreign trade, Guangdong shoulders the important mission of advancing the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade. Industry chambers of commerce serve as vital bridges connecting the government and the market, linking upstream and downstream industrial chains, and docking domestic and international markets. They undertake key functions including policy communication as well as collecting and forwarding corporate demands. By advancing trade integration and resource aggregation via an integrated service platform, the GREATER BAY AREA IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS ASSOCIATION offers a vivid example of implementing arrangements for high-quality foreign trade development at the grassroots level. He expressed the hope that the Association will keep abreast of industrial trends, fully tap the service potential of its platform, strengthen connectivity among commercial entities across the “9+2” Greater Bay Area cities, continuously pool forces for regional foreign trade growth, deepen trade coordination between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and assume greater responsibilities and play a more prominent role in supporting the national drive to build a powerful trading nation.

During this visit to Hong Kong, Sun Bin also attended the Hong Kong Promotion Conference for the 2026 Global Intelligent Manufacturing & Electronics Expo (AIE Expo) and delivered a keynote speech. Representatives from relevant competent authorities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao jointly introduced the overall planning and preparation progress of the expo, conveying to industrial communities at home and abroad the vision of jointly building a world-class commercial matching platform for the electronics industry through integrated coordination in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
