Establishment background

Xi Jinping deliverd the Speech at the Opening Ceremony of the 5th China International Import Expo, said China will work with all countries and all parties to share the opportunities in its vast market. We will step up efforts to cultivate a robust domestic market, upgrade trade in goods, develop new mechanisms for trade in services, and import more quality products. We will establish pilot zones for Silk Road e-commerce cooperation and build national demonstration zones for innovative development of trade in services, so as to encourage innovation in trade and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Greater Bay Area Imports and Exports Association（GBAIEA） is the first business association, which successfully integrate and promote the complementary advantages, joint construction, and coordinated development of the import and export industries in the "9+2" cities in the Greater Bay Area.

GBAIEA was launched by Tan Yaozong and LAM Lung On. Tan was rewarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal by Hong Kong government. Tan was a member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), and now is the vice president of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies, the secretary general of the Hong Kong Coalition, and the conference adviser of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong（DAB）.

Lam was rewarded the Justice of the Peace by Hong Kong government. Lin was a deputy to the 13th NPC and now is a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference（CPPCC）.

Tan and Lam joined forces with more than ten NPC deputies and CPPCC memebers from Hong Kong's trade-related industries. They launched the Greater Bay Area "9+2" regional import and export trade related business association to promote GBAIEA establishment.

Organization purpose

GBAIEA aims to thoroughly implement the development planning outline of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, echo major development strategies such as ASEAN and the Belt and Road, give play to the functional advantages of Hong Kong's two-way platform, strengthen the economic and trade system of the Greater Bay Area, build a "9+2+N" cooperation and development pattern, create a new import and export trade service platform, focus on cross-border e-commerce, service trade, digital trade and other new foreign trade drivers, guide the transformation and upgrading of traditional import and export enterprises, and contribute to the strength of the Bay Area to promote high-quality development of foreign trade and help cultivate new quality productivity.

GBAIEA is committed to strengthening international economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, promoting the coordinated development of international trade and investment, enhancing the friendly cooperative relations between the Greater Bay Area and ASEAN, RCEP members, and jointly promoting the high-quality construction of the "the Belt and Road".

The missons of GBAIEA is Give full play to the advantages of Hong Kong's two-way platform functions, strengthening the economic and trade system of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, promote the digital upgrading of the entire trade chain, assist in the high-quality development of China's import and export.

We will unite colleagues in the import and export industry and the business community to serve Hong Kong in accelerating its integration into the overall national development situation, give full play to Hong Kong's two-way trade and investment hub function, strengthen the foreign trade system of the Great Bay Area, promote trade, investment, economic and technological exchanges and cooperation between the Great Bay Area and countries and regions around the world, assume greater responsibility and mission for accelerating the development of the Great Bay Area in the new stage, and play a greater role in the construction of the "the Belt and Road" and the implementation of RCEP.
