Establishment background

Chairman Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the opening ceremony of the 5th China International Import Expo, further emphasizing the active promotion of shared opportunities in China's vast market among countries and various parties, expediting the construction of a robust domestic market, promoting the optimization and upgrading of goods trade, and innovating the development mechanisms for service trade.

To accelerate integration into the national development agenda and promote trade cooperation between Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as the Asia-Pacific region and global markets, with the goal of jointly creating a secure, stable, comprehensive, internationally influential, and supportive supply chain and industrial chain for the country's high-quality development.

The "Greater Bay Area Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export" is jointly initiated by Tan Yaozong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, Vice Chairman of the National Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Rejuvenation Alliance, consultant of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, and prominent figure; Lin Long'an, delegate of the 13th National People's Congress and member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, gentleman of the Peaceful Prosperity Society; and Chen Zhenbin, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chao Shu Clubs General Association, prominent figure. They are joined by over ten delegates and members of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in the trade-related industries of Hong Kong, as well as regional import and export trade-related industry associations in the 9+2 areas of the Greater Bay Area, in jointly establishing the chamber.

Organization purpose

The chamber aims to implement major strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-ASEAN strategic partnership, in accordance with the development plan of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It seeks to unite and connect the import and export industry resources of the 9+2 regions in the Greater Bay Area, strengthen the economic and trade system of the Greater Bay Area, enhance trade cooperation with Taiwan, guide the transformation and upgrading of traditional foreign trade, promote the role of cross-border e-commerce, live-streaming e-commerce, service trade, re-export trade, digital trade, and international digital RMB payment applications in the new international situation, and take practical actions to promote the high-quality development of the import and export industry in the Greater Bay Area.

The chamber is committed to promoting collaboration and mutual benefit in the Greater Bay Area, making full use of each other's resources and advantages, and promoting cooperation and development in the import and export industry within the Greater Bay Area. It aims to create more opportunities and space for the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area. At the same time, the chamber will contribute to strengthening the integration of science and technology in the Greater Bay Area, working together to promote basic research and industrialization of technology, and jointly support the establishment of the Greater Bay Area as a global hub for technological innovation. The chamber will also promote the coordinated development of international trade and investment, enhance friendly cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and ASEAN member countries and the members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and jointly promote the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
